Had to review since I wanted to pull up the average score. Do you like mongolian stir fry, such as you've had at Khan's? Now not to mock Khan's, which I love, but this place just has more choices. -more vegetables -more meats -more sauces to choose from -spices to sprinkle on top before cooking -a choice of starches: white rice, brown rice, noodles, or flour tortillas --all of which are served on the side or mixed in on the grill -the option to add an egg -more sauces to put on top after cooking -more spices to sprinkle on top after cooking and, my favorite part, which Khan's does not have (with the exception of sesame seeds): tasty little crunchies to sprinkle on top after cooking! Tasty little thingies like chow mein noodles, peanuts, etc. [Note: if you're a slow eater like me, skip the chow mein noodles or keep them on the side and add them a little at a time. Crunchy chow mein noodles are great; soggy chow mein noodles are not.] As you can see, the possible permutations are mind-boggling. If the idea of a place like this intimidates you at all, there are cute little recipe cards that you can follow religiously or use for inspiration. Maple Grove might be a bit of a drive for you, but you have to check out "The Fountains At Maple Grove" and "The Shoppes At Maple Grove" if you're a fan of shopping. I lump 'em together and call 'em "The Sprawly Mall," because it is more of a sprawling strip mall than an indoor deal. A silly idea here in Minnesota, perhaps, but on a nice day or in a comfy car, it's kinda fun to see a bunch of stores and restaurants that we don't necessarily have in the Cities.

I like this place. It's Fun, Quick, Cheap, and Healthy. You pick everything you eat and watch them cook it. Kinda like the subway of asian restaurants. I thought the staff was super helpful. If you tell them its your first time they literally give you a step by step walk throu. Can't really screw it up. If you go on sundays -- one bowl is $7.99.

Meh. It's 2x as expensive as any grill of this type, and I didn't see any difference in the quality. For the price, it's not worth it - although it isn't bad food.

Absolutely the BEST place to create and eat your own Mongolian Stir-fry! We've been here over 30 times in the past 2 years.

The food is great and they have a good variety of items to add to your stir fry.

I went on a Tuesday night...not crazy crowded like the weekends. Staff is courteous and helpful. Don't get the salad/soup bar. Not worth the extra money. I love filling my bowl with all the vegies, noodles, meat and sauces. The one time bowl was big enough for me but make sure you fill it! I know my boyfriend has taken advantage of the multiple bowls the last time we went. Tasty, fast. No alcohol which after a day at work, a glass of wine would've been nice.

Don't even try eating here on a Friday or Saturday night. If you're lucky enough to score a table, get ready to wait in a monstrous line for stir-fry service. I put in about five minutes of waiting before I realized I'd leave frustrated no matter what. I ended up at Khan's in Coon Rapids where I was met with friendly service and absolutely no lines. There's significantly less variety, but not to an extent that made me regret saying 'adios' to Mongo's.

The husband and I eat at Mongo's about once again, and in my opinion here's the deal: It's cheap, it's healthy, you can have it "your way." Oh, and it's good. I mean, if you don't like it you have no one to blame because you mixed it yourself. That said, it's hard to screw it up. Nice selection of meats and seafood, with black beans and tofu for the vegetarian folks. Also very good for calorie counters; even the sauces are low cal, which is hard to believe. This is a casual place, nothing fancy. Don't go near it on weekends (it's a zoo and is not worth the wait) but is great for a week day lunch or dinner. Also inexpensive. A meal for two will run $25.00. I completely agree with other folks about skipping the soup and salad bar, which is pretty lame. Never had a problem with service, but some servers are overly friendly (e.g., chatting with you for 5 minutes, singing at you along with the muzak as they walk by). This annoys me and my husband although some folks may find it cute.

I tried Khan's a LONG time ago and hated it, so I was not looking forward to this when The Fiance suggested it, but then I figued, "hey, he can get all the meat he wants and maybe I can eat somewhat healthy." This is now one of our favorites. Skip the "salad/soup bar" and get a bowl. Fill it with all the meat, veggies, (even fruit!) and noodles you can cram in there. Ladle on several scoops of the same or varying sauces and take it to the cooking station. Watch several young men toss you food around while you pick rice or tortillas to mix in or eat on the side. After a rivetting show, you are served your creation and can top it with everything from raisins to sesame seeds to peanuts to spicy ranch dressing. Seriously. This place is great for families, health-nuts and glutons alike. Dinner and a show!

I love that the food is customized. This restaurant seems much cleaner than the other mongolian bbq restaurants in the area--with a broader food selection to boot!

I love the idea of making my own stir-fry. Then I went there and loved it. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The server was very helpful of how the restaurant works. If you are trying to please a picky eater....go there!

This my boyfriend and I's favorite place to eat. We have been eating at both Mongo's locations for several years now, and have never been disappointed. My only complaint is that they recently stopped having the option of eating with chopsticks. They also have really grab desert and smoothy selection.

if you're looking for fresh cooked right in front of your face food then mongos grill in Maple Grove is the place to go. the employees are very kind and the servers have infectious smiles.they say first impressions are everything well that concept is applied to the fullest extent here. if you're someone on a budget and want to go out to eat very cheap.and for anyone trying to eat a more healthy lifestyle and not lack on flavor this is the place for you. Also very vegan friendly.

Great #Mongolian BBQ in Maple Grove! I'd give this place three and a half stars. It's a great place to bring kids and/or dine with a group. They have a wonderful selection of vegetables, meats, fish and sauces. Here's an overview: Pros: Big tables for large groups Flavored lemonades Sides include white rice, brown rice, fried rice, tortillas Dragon Ranch Mayo You can make an order for take out if you don't want to eat in Cons: Strange coffee bar at front of restaurant No alcohol Shrimp is only served at dinner There's not a formal "recipe"for sauce mixing

Delicious! Mongo's is exactly like Khan's Mongolian Grill, but it my opinion, better. They have an endless number of fresh vegetable & meat & seafood options. The sauces are delicious! And I like that you have the choice of side item - ranging from white & fried rice to a tortilla wrap! P.S. If you live near a Mongo's, they genenerally advertise in the local mailers & almost always have a BOGO coupon :)

Same concept as Khan's, but minus the food poisoning. This place is a lot better, in my opinion. Tons of veggies (some fruits), meats (even Tofu!), noodles, sauces, spices and sides, all in a very reasonable price! I like the wide variety that changes. Don't let the kielbasa sausage scare you, give it a try, you'll be surprised! The sides range from multiple tortilla options, couple kinds of rice and eggs. Eggs? Yep, eggs! They add a little something extra to your meal, and I highly suggest adding them to the rice or your stir fry! If it's your first time, you may want to do multiple bowls so you can try different combos! First you start off at the veggies/fruits/seafood/Tofu section, then make your way to the meat, noodles, sauces and dry spices. I suggest to fill the bowl with sauces and a little dry spice for flavor, otherwise it will be bland since they use water to cook it. After you've constructed your heaping bowl, you make your way to the circle where the guys cook it for you. Be careful though, the floor is always slippery from all the spilled sauces, and the counters are just as bad; hard to keep all the liquid from spilling out! They cook it and make whatever side you choose, then you can add nuts, chow mien noodles, sauces, etc once it's done. Then it's time to enjoy! The wait staff is usually very friendly and right on top of things. We went there tonight, a Saturday night, and was asked by 4 people if we had been helped! A rarity these days! I love that this is an overall healthy option compared to other places similar. If you can't get in to Benihana across the street, this is a great second option, as well as a great first option. :-)

We were there when the heat index was 108F. The restaurant is good size and nicely decorated. The flow through the salad and buffet is a bit confusing the first time; however, you'll get the hang of it quick. They have a good assortment of vegetables, fruits, etc., although I thought the salad bar was somewhat limited. They really should add a couple of great stir-fry herbs like cilantro, basil, etc. as fresh herbs and not as dry powder herbs. Their pricing is a bit confusing as you can choose: only 1 bowl, or 1 bowl + soup & salad, or only soup & salad I believe (not worth it). The floors were VERY greasy and slippery and I think they might have had a problem with their air conditioning/filtering system. I must admit that really greasy floors don't really enhance my appetite -- call me 'picky'. The meats and various fishes were good. They have a couple of noodles and also curly pasta? Then when you bring your bowl to the grill/stir-fry you can choose: that white or brown rice on site, or mixed in, tortillas, wraps, etc. To stir-fry they seem to use a water mixture and in the end this really takes all the taste of the various ingredients to a real watered down dish. You can also end up with a large percentage of noodles and rice on your dish. Make sure you really use enough scoops of the sauces you like as it will keep the meat more tender and will enhance the flavor, somewhat. All-in-all: this is a good solution for people that tend more to the bland flavors. In my opinion they lack the specific flavors that they seem to have captured at their competitors: Khanh's. At Khanh's they have a great appetizer with their soup and chicken and let's not forget their honey-sesame soft steamed bread dessert. Last and not least: Mongo's doesn't serve any alcoholic beverages. For me this was a first and last time and I will drive a little further next time to get a more grown-up, quality dining experience.

My 4 year old and I came in here on a Monday night for dinner, while shopping. Overall, I liked this place, but wouldn't probably come here with anyone but children. For starters, there's no alcohol, which normally would be a deal breaker for me, but it's not like I was going to booze it up with my 4 year old, so it was fine (twitch). The server took drink orders for everyone around us as then as he was leaving the room he caught my stink eye and decided to take ours too. He was nice and apologized for the delay, but had to return two times for me to remind him that we wanted a Coke and a lemonade. I was impressed with the amount of options in terms of vegetables and protein. We really didn't know what we were doing with the sauces and I clearly didn't put enough on mine as it was a little bland. My son loved watching them stir fry his food and throw bowls of rice around. I thought it was fun too, until the new cook kept dropping the rice bowls, which was jarring. Cool - they didn't charge me for my son's food as he is under 5. Not sure if that's a promo that they run during the week, because I paid for him on the weekend. I think we had the B Squad serving team that night, but on a return trip on the weekend, my kids and I had a better experience. I will note, I told my daughter that they had shrimp and scallops when we went on a Saturday afternoon, and they didn't. I wonder if they only have seafood at night? Oh, one more thing. They have a weird coffee bar in the restaurant. No one mans the coffee bar, nor does anyone sit at it. I just think it's odd.

A place I'd like to give 3.5 star's too, I love mongolian BBQ's. I'll even go to a chinese buffet if they have a mongolian BBQ (otherwise I avoid them and only go if forced). And mongo's is pretty good, a little more than some places, but I like the choices. Before you boo the kieblasa, it's a fine addition and I always throw some in my bowl. For as much as I go to Mongolian BBQ's, I still never really know what to do with sauce. I just scoop stuff on and put a bunch of red chili on top for kick. Just a guess, there are guides and menu's, and no matter waht I do, seems to come out same. I dont recall one particular combo standing out and I've never made one thats inedible. You can get comparable BBQ's at Chinese Buffet's for cheaper, but Mongo's is cleaner and has more choices.

They have a great selection for veggies, meat, and sea food. Went there with my boyfriend for lunch. Not bad on the pricing. We loved the way our stur-fry was when it was finished. Having said that there were things i was not to in love with. We each opted to have fried rice. Bad choice. Tasted like it had been made from a box. I wish i have gotten noodles instead. I love the way they ventured with the other types of pasta as well. Gives people a wider selection . I got a sunday for dessert and for the price, it was perfect. Carmal, vanilla icecream, and a bit of whipped topping. for about 2$, very cute! Waiter was nice, not to overwelming during lunch. Very helpful. I will be back again, the rice was not bad enough to scare me away. Ill just stick to good old fashin noodles.

Meh. I've been here twice with my roommate who loves it...the novelty wears off after your first visit. Service was pretty good, but my stir fry was kind of bland even after I added sauce and spices. In all, it's overpriced for what you get.

I have been to a lot of Mongolian BBQ joints, I love them. I get plenty to eat, and its pretty healthy, depending on what you put in it. This place is ok. The salad bar, which is extra $ in addition to the BBQ, is not stellar. Not much to it, two soups, didnt try them. The BBQ selection itself is pretty good. They dont charge an extra amount for seafood, it is all included. There is a good selection of sauces, and the have a $3 off Monday night student night. The food was pretty good. The service I experienced was terrible. The cooks that make your BBQ were friendly and talkative, but the server was well, not the brightest. Couldnt seem to get the drink order correct, although it was complicated (1 diet coke, 1 regular) 3 tries later, we gave up. She was not around much, and literally used the phrase "you guys" at least 11 times per visit to the table. I have issue with not getting refills when I am eating spicy food, and this applies, depending on the sauce you use. Anyway, if you like lots of veggies, its a good place to eat.
